FAQ
What is a boat club?
Boat clubs offer an option for boat access without having to own or rent a boat. They are private clubs which means boats are only accessible to Members that join. Joining the club is a great option to get boat access with less cost than renting multiple times a season and without any of the hassle that comes with owning a boat. We handle all of the pain points that come with boating such as towing (you don’t even need a truck), launching, cleaning, maintenance, insurance and more meaning more time spent on the water with friends and family. None of our boats are ever chartered or rented so they are kept in much better condition and you know what you are getting every time you go out. Members are able to use unlimited days using a rolling reservation system.
How much does membership cost?
We offer three membership levels including a weekday only membership, gold full access membership, and a corporate membership. There is a one time initiation fee and then monthly dues paid on the first of the month year round. Pricing can be viewed at elevatedwatersports.com/pricing. Members are also responsible for launch fees and fuel costs. Members may cancel at any time but are responsible for the rest of the years dues and will forfeit the initiation.
How are reservations handled?
Reservations can be booked online or on the phone. Each member can have 4 days booked in advanced up to 32 days out. After one day or half day is used another reservation may be made. We also offer a waitlist and day of reservations that don’t count towards days that are already booked. There are no consecutive weekends and only 2 out of the 4 reservations can be weekend days to ensure equal access for all members.
Is there a limit on members per boat?
While all members can access the full fleet of boats we do try and limit membership to 8 members per boat to ensure equal access.
Do you offer training?
All members are required to receive in person training to ensure they are able to navigate and operate all of the boats safely. Anyone that will be operating a boat during the season must go through the safety check and sign a waiver. We do recommend taking either the Nevada or California boater’s safety course prior to operating a boat on Lake Tahoe.
Do we have to refuel?
Members are responsible for the cost of fuel used while on the boat. We physically handle the fueling after pulling the boat out for the day and charge your account. Members are responsible for keeping an eye on fuel levels while on the water and may fuel at marinas as necessary. For information on where to fuel boats on Lake Tahoe see our information tab.
Is equipment included?
Boats have everything you need for a day on the water including life jackets, ski vests, tube, tow rope, wakeboard, and wake surf board. Water skis and kids equipment are available by request. Members are welcome to bring their own gear and we also offer discounts on Liquid Force. Some additional options are available for an added fee including coolers, ice, and stocking coolers.
Who is responsible for cleaning the boats?
Members are responsible for taking their trash and keeping the boat in the same condition they got it in. The boat will be wiped down after every use by the club. We reserve the right to charge a fee if the boat is returned excessively dirty.
What happens when a boat is damaged?
Boats are insured however members must pay up to the deductible or if damage is less than the deductible pay the amount to fix the damage and may be responsible for costs associated with lost reservations for other members at a per day out of service rate.
Can the membership be shared?
Membership is on an individual or spousal couple (including children over 25) basis. Corporate memberships are available that allow for multiple authorized user on one membership.
Do you offer a way to try out membership?
Yes we offer the ability to demo boats prior to joining so you can get a feel for the experience and see if the club is the right fit for you. Please call 775-391-6622 to schedule a day and time to get on the water.
Can I join even if it is not boating season?
Yes, as membership is limited we accept members year round so that you can secure a spot for the following summer. Please fill out a membership application. If we are not accepting new members there is a wait list that it is a $1,000 non-refundable deposit to hold your spot.
How often will boats be upgraded?
We upgrade boats based on engine hours and try to upgrade boats every 3-4 years or 600 hours, whichever comes first.
Joining the club means you get access to newer boats in good condition and you never have to worry about selling a boat or lose money on depreciation.
Do I need a truck?
No, we currently include launch service in membership at our Tahoe locations. We may offer an option for members to tow and launch the boats in the future, but would provide the option to rent a truck or pay for valet launch service. Buoy or slip access may be available depending on location.
Are there non-boating benefits to members?
Members get access to exclusive events, discounts from our partners, networking opportunities and more.
We also offer winter benefits including access to California Gold Ski Passes and the option to add on snowmobile access.
Are there other locations besides Lake Tahoe for boat access?
We are currently working on access for our members
Are boats available for rent?
No, to ensure members receive the highest quality boats and service our boats are only accessible to members. If you are looking for a rental we are happy to refer you to one of our local partners.
I already own a boat, can I still join the club?
Yes, we offer membership that provides services for boat owners and we also offer the option for you to add your boat to the club.
What kind of boats are available?
We currently offer luxury surf boats and bowriders including Cobalt, Nautique, and Malibu. This allows members to test out different boats and see what they prefer.
Boats available vary at each location.
